Durdle Door is said to be one of the most photographed places in England. The coastline along which it lies was designated as England's first natural heritage site by UNESCO. By doing so this place has now become a part of the family of natural wonders along with the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Grand Canyon in the U.S.A.
Durdle Door is a naturally formed arch of hard limestone which sticks out vertically from the sea. It is said that the powerful waves helped erode the rock thus forming a hole in the middle and leading to the arch as it is seen today.
The journey to this magnificent formation near the Durdle Door beach is through a steep hill. But the journey is definitely worth the view.
